Speaker of the day: Marion Buchet — Well-being at Work

Marion Buchet joined the French Air Force in 2001, successively flying Mirage F1, Alphajet, and then Mirage 2000. She has accumulated approximately 2500 flying hours, including over 2000 on jets.

From the beginning of her career, she became interested in issues related to process security and the individual and collective determinants of performance. She returned to her studies and obtained a master's degree in psychology. She then specialized in the study of cognitive functioning and human factors and became an expert to the General Staff on the mental preparation of flight personnel.

As an instructor at the Fighter Pilot School and then at the Mirage 2000D Transformation Squadron, she developed a particular interest in issues related to the development and transfer of technical and non-technical skills that underpin performance, such as decision-making in complex environments or emotion management. She trains fighter squadron instructors in psychopedagogy and delivers theoretical training on crew resource management or Cockpit Resources Management. During her presentations, Marion Buchet presents the fundamental principles from psychology that guide our actions and connects them with the various activities in which individuals are engaged, particularly in the business world. She illustrates these mechanisms using compelling and sometimes well-known aeronautical examples. The questions she provides answers to, based on the current state of knowledge, are: what are the elements that underpin your performance and that of your teams? Why are you sometimes counterproductive? What mechanisms explain why you make the right decision without knowing why? What techniques can optimize performance?
