Speaker of the day: Steven Laureys — Well-being at work

Steven Laureys

Every day we spotlight one voice from the UnoMe network. Today: Steven Laureys, Well-being at work — one of the keynote speakers we recommend for corporate events and conferences in Al Khobar, Doha and across the GCC.

Who is Steven Laureys?

Venture into the fascinating intricacies of the brain and consciousness with Steven Laureys

Neurologist Steven Laureys, holder of the Canada Research Chair in Integrative Neuroscience for Sustainable Mental Health, Research Director at the Fund for Scientific Research – Belgium, speaker, and author, is internationally renowned for his scientific studies of consciousness and human cognition. Professor Laureys is the founding director of the GIGA Consciousness Research Unit at the University of Liège and the Brain Center of Liège University Hospital, and a professor at the CERVO research center in Canada.

With his team, this scientist embarks on astonishing expeditions into the human mind. Using advanced brain imaging techniques, he explores the depths of coma, near-death experiences, sleep, dreams, meditation, and even the effect of sports on our minds. Brain images become maps to understand the mysteries of our consciousness.

Journeys into the minds of champions and spiritual guides

Dr. Laureys has delved into the exceptional minds of champions like Guillaume Nery, a world-renowned freediver with considerable mental strength, but also astronauts, musicians, and Buddhist monks like Matthieu Ricard. Even explorers of consciousness like the shaman Corine Sombrun have been at the heart of his investigations. Through his work, he shows us that the brain is a complex canvas woven with dreams, emotions, and untapped potentials.
