Speaker of the day: Xavier Delerue — Leadership and Management

Xavier de Le Rue is a French snowboarder specializing in cross and freeride. He was born on July 1^st in Bayonne.

In the world of Snow Cross, Xavier de Le Rue is a legend: he is one of the best snowboarders in the world in this discipline. From 2003, he won the Cross World Cup 3 years in a row. In 2006, boardercross was finally admitted to the Olympic Games in Turin. While everything suggested a medal awaited him, a few weeks before the start of the event, Xavier got injured. Verdict: a torn malleolus that greatly hampered him. Ankles are essential in snowboarding. Without full possession of his abilities, Xavier was eliminated during the quarterfinals. But his steel morale meant he never gave up: he won the gold medal at the World Championships in Arosa, Switzerland. Xavier also particularly distinguished himself at the X Games, where he accumulated 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and one bronze.

Whether facing steep cliffs, narrow couloirs, deep powder, or "mini-golfs," Xavier employs his maximum technique to manage every part of the course.

After retiring from competitive snowboarding, Xavier continued snowboarding and embarked on making extreme films. This allowed him to satisfy his thirst for challenge and perform in incredible regions: in "Mission Antarctic", with his snowboard as his only ally, he went to confront the most formidable icy landscapes on the globe.

He also worked as a stuntman on the film Point Break 2: he filmed and helped prepare the Big Mountain sequences in the Alps and participated in the editing of the film, in which he also makes an appearance.

In 2015, he married Beanie, a former freestyle ski pro from Scotland.

Today, Xavier prefers to make smaller films in terms of production, but he still enjoys it just as much. He also gives conferences in French-speaking Switzerland and English-speaking countries.

When he's not filming, Xavier divides his life between Switzerland and France: he lives in Verbier in winter and in the Pyrenees in summer, to practice other extreme sports.Languages spoken by the speaker
