Berti Denervaud

Born on May 7, 1970, Bertrand Dénervaud, known as "Berti", is a former professional snowboarder who excelled in all disciplines of the sport, particularly in half-pipe between 1992 and 2002. The Fribourg native boasts an exceptional track record, having won eight world titles (overall ranking and half pipe). His talent allowed him not only to win Snowboard World Cup events in half pipe but also in boardercross and alpine, which is quite exceptional as no other rider can claim the same. He has over 50 podium finishes between 1991 and 2002 and qualified for the Nagano Olympic Games.

In June 1998, he also took on the responsibilities of president of the ISF (International Snowboard Federation), now integrated into the International Ski Federation. Despite this, Berti remains an athlete who has never let success go to his head. He never sought to appear on magazine covers, more concerned with his athletic performance than with his image.

For 3 years, between 2004 and 2007, he directed the winter sports marketing operations of a large company Scott Sports; Then from 2007 to 2010 he was in charge of sales management for the brand. This executive activity within a recognized brand forged another facet of his experience, giving him a more global understanding of the sports world, in a broad sense.

Indeed, in addition to his professional career, Berti Denervaud is a great active specialist in the field of sports competition and organization. He took charge of creating from scratch a flagship event, freeride, represented in one of the highlight events: the Xtreme Verbier. If this event is so renowned today, it is also because Berti implemented the points system, the amateur and pro race calendar, specifications for organizers, and a rigorous judging method. All these practices are still current.

Today, Bertrand Dénervaud is 47 years old, he lives in Gingins. Since 2010, he has been responsible for sports development for the Freeride World Tour. Still very active in the world of sports, he officiates as a judge during Freeride World Tour competitions.

To share his experience, he has given several conferences on the private sports model versus federated sport.
