Laurent Alexandre.
Laurent Alexandre is a man resolutely focused a few years into the future. He derives his foresight from solid acquired experience, accumulated knowledge, and his passion for foresight. Specializing in subjects such as transhumanism, biotechnology, IT (and AI), med-tech, and human sciences, Laurent Alexandre offers an enlightened vision of our current society.
Born to a doctor father, he pursued appropriate studies that led him to become a Doctor in surgery and Urologist. However, he also completed the HEC MBA program in Paris and trained in business management. By continuing at ENA, he further asserted his unique path. Four years after validating his first surgeon's diploma, he created a first consulting company (in 1994), then Medcost in 1995 with some associates. It was in 1999 that he co-founded the famous health-dedicated website Doctissimo. While the first websites were emerging, and before the wave of social web 2.0, Laurent Alexandre saw correctly and anticipated internet users' tastes. Doctissimo was acquired by the Lagardère group for 139 million euros.
In 2010, he became strongly interested in the world of DNA research and sequencing by acquiring the company DNAVision. At the same time, he became involved in the media by acquiring a stake in the newspaper La Tribune.
Laurent Alexandre is also an author and publishes numerous articles in magazines such as L’Express, We demain (the now famous magazine for changing times), Huffington Post, and Le Monde newspaper. His latest book, "La Guerre des intelligences" (The War of Intelligences), challenges current notions of global balance to bring us to the realization of an alarming imbalance.
His preferred subjects are transhumanism and artificial intelligence. He will deliver a high-level conference in a TEDx titled "The retreat of death: towards short-term immortality?". But his appetite for knowledge is not limited to this subject. He also speaks on economic, training, political, and societal issues.
