Justine Mettraux keynotes

Justine Mettraux, the Swiss sailor charting her course to excellence!

Justine Mettraux, a Swiss sailor born in Geneva in 1986, grew up in Versoix and started sailing at a young age on her family’s boat.

At 16, Justine joined the Centre d’Entraînement à la Régate in Geneva, where she honed her competitive spirit by taking part in several Tour de France à la Voile races.

After 10 years with the CER, Justine spent two years sailing on LadyCat, the D35 skippered by Dona Bertarelli, while using the winters to embark on long-distance sailing adventures across the globe.

She then took the plunge into solo ocean racing, competing in the 2013 Mini Transat with TeamWork. She finished second overall in the series ranking, becoming the first woman ever to reach the podium in this category!

In 2014-2015, Justine participated in the Volvo Ocean Race as part of Team SCA, an all-female crew skippered by Sam Davies, which finished 6th in the race. She then embarked on a Figaro project, competing in four editions of La Solitaire du Figaro, always under TeamWork’s colors. In 2017, she achieved her best result, finishing 7th overall.

In the meantime, she continued to gain experience: competing in the Transat Jacques Vabre alongside Bertrand Delesne in Class40, and participating in several legs of the 2017-2018 Volvo Ocean Race with Dongfeng, which went on to win that edition.

At the end of 2020, Justine joined the American IMOCA team 11th Hour Racing Team, preparing for The Ocean Race 2023. With them, she competed in The Ocean Race Europe, the 2021 Transat Jacques Vabre alongside Simon Fisher, and gained extensive experience sailing foiling IMOCA yachts.

In summer 2022, TeamWork announced the acquisition of Charal 1 to support Justine on her journey to the 2024 Vendée Globe. After securing seventh place in the Route du Rhum, Justine joined the crew for the round-the-world race with stopovers.

Justine participated in several legs alongside the 11th Hour Racing Team, whose IMOCA, skippered by Charlie Enright, went on to win The Ocean Race.

In March 2024, Justine announced a new partnership with Groupe SNEF. Her IMOCA was rebranded as TeamWork – Team SNEF, with her sights set on the Vendée Globe, where the Swiss sailor achieved an 8th place finish.
