Philip Hesketh is a distinguished British Anglican priest who has served as the Dean of Rochester since June 2016. Born on November 15, 1964, in Southport, Lancashire, he spent his early years on the Isle of Man and received his education at St Ninian’s High School in Douglas. In 1983, he moved to London to study divinity at King’s College London, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Divinity degree and the Associateship of King’s College qualification. He later pursued postgraduate research, earning a PhD in Philosophy from King’s College London in 1994.​

Hesketh was ordained as a deacon in 1994 and as a priest in 1995. He began his ministry as a curate at Holy Cross Church in Bearsted, Diocese of Canterbury, from 1994 to 1998. Following this, he served as the Vicar of St Stephen’s Church in Chatham, Diocese of Rochester, from 1998 to 2005. In 2005, he became a Canon Residentiary of Rochester Cathedral and briefly served as Acting Dean in 2015. His appointment as Dean of Rochester was announced in February 2016, and he was installed in June 2016.​
In addition to his ecclesiastical duties, Hesketh was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Kent in 2019 and received an honorary doctorate from Canterbury Christ Church University in 2023. He is married to Sugina Kamalagharan, a medical doctor, and they have four children.
