Justine Mettraux, the Swiss sailor charting her course to excellence!

Justine Mettraux, a Swiss sailor born in Geneva in 1986, grew up in Versoix, and began sailing at a very young age on her family's boat.

At 16, Justine joined the Centre d’Entraînement à la Régate (Regatta Training Center) in Geneva, where she honed her competitive spirit by participating in several Tour de France à la Voile.

After 10 years at the CER, Justine sailed for 2 years on LadyCat, the D35 skippered by Dona Bertarelli, and used her winters to embark on long-distance voyages to the four corners of the world.

Then she took the plunge and, with TeamWork, participated in the Mini Transat 2013. She finished second overall in the series, and was the first woman to reach this step on the podium!

In 2014-2015, Justine participated in the Volvo Ocean Race with Team SCA, an all-female crew skippered by Sam Davies, which finished the race in 6th position. Then Justine led a Figaro project, participating in 4 editions of the Solitaire, always under the TeamWork colors. She finished in 7th position in 2017, her best result.

In the meantime, she accumulated experiences: a Transat Jacques Vabre with Bertrand Delesne in Class40, participation in several legs of the Volvo Ocean Race 2017-2018 with Dongfeng – which won that edition.

At the end of 2020, Justine joined the American IMOCA team 11th Hour Racing Team, with The Ocean Race in 2023 in mind. With them, she participated in The Ocean Race Europe, in the Transat Jacques Vabre 2021 alongside Simon Fisher, and gained an enormous amount of experience in foiling IMOCAs.

In summer 2022, TeamWork announced the acquisition of Charal 1, to support Justine until the Vendée Globe 2024. After a seventh place in the Route du Rhum, Justine went to join the crew for the round-the-world race with stopovers.

Justine participated in several legs alongside the 11th Hour Racing team. The American IMOCA, skippered by Charlie Enright, won the crewed round-the-world race with stopovers.

In March 2024, Justine announced the signing of a new partnership with Groupe SNEF. Her IMOCA thus became TeamWork – Team SNEF, with her sights set on the start of the Vendée Globe, where the Swiss sailor achieved 8th place.Languages spoken by the speaker:
