Philippe Moreillon.

Holder of a doctorate from the University of Lausanne (1987) in internal medicine and infectious diseases, and a PhD in microbiology from Rockefeller University in New York (1993), Philippe Moreillon became an associate professor of medicine in 2000 and a professor and director of the Institute of Fundamental Microbiology at the University of Lausanne in 2002.

In parallel, he held the position of Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne from 2002 to 2006 and then Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations until 2016.

During his 10 years at the university's management, he actively promoted interdisciplinary research between the quantitative and human sciences, at national and international levels. He organized the World Knowledge Dialogue, the academic discussion with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the 17^th Karmapa, and co-organized the TEDxLausanne conference.Languages spoken by the speaker

Philippe Moreillon delivers lectures in two languages, very well suited for all regions of French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland.His own research areas include the pathogenesis and ecology of Gram-positive bacteria, bacterial infections in humans and animals, and antibiotic resistance. Currently, he is focused on revisiting antimicrobial resistance and developing new strategies in this field, such as phagotherapy.

 

In addition to his duties at the university, he is the Vice-President of the Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences, a member of the board of trustees of ISREC (Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research) and a member of the scientific committee of the Leenaards Foundation.

His intervention at conferences will bring scientific depth of quality. He can speak with great ease on medical and scientific topics and can discuss the future of research.
